Jane's painting MOSAIC # 6, THREADS OF LIFE has been juried into the "The Contemporary Scroll Visual Explorations" show at the SAN DIEGO ART INSTITUTE. The show runs from August 2 through September 2, 2007. The public is invited to a reception to meet the artists on Friday August 10 from 6 pm to 8 pm. The juror for this exhibition was Betti-Sue Hertz, curator of contemporary art at the San Diego Museum of Art since 2000. Recent exhibitions include Past in Reverse: Contemporary Art of East Asia (2004) and Axis Mexico: Common Objects and Cosmopolitan Actions (2002). Before relocating to San Diego, Hertz was a curator and arts activist in New York for over fifteen years. As director of Longwood Arts Project (1992 - 98) she organized numerous gallery and outdoor sculputure exhibitions. Hertz co-directed 1990's Art from Cuba: A National Residency and Exhibition Program, a cultural-exchange project for five artists in five U.S. cities (1997-1999). She was curator for Beyond the Borders: Art By Recent Immigrants (1994) and co-curator (with Lydia Yee) of Urban Mythologies: The Bronx Represented Since the 1960s (1999). The San Diego Art Insititute is located in Balboa Park next to the Mingei Museum and across the street from the San Diego Museum of Art at the Laurel Street Balboa Park entrance. Jane's paintings AFTER FECHIN and THE POND have been selected to hang in the MUSEUM OF THE LIVING ARTIST at the San Diego Art Institute from February 15 until March 18, 2007. AFTER FECHIN was selected for exhibition in the Art Institute's regional competition, and THE POND was selected for exhibition in a competition of small image works, 12" X 12" or smaller. The guest juror for these two separate COMPETITIONS was artist and teacher Perry Vasquez. Mr. Vasquez received his AB from Stanford University in Political Science & Studio Art and his MFA from UCSD in Visual Art/Painting and Criticism with additional studies at Platt College in Digital Animation. Jane will participating in San Diego's largest art event - ArtWALK on Saturday April 29 and Sunday April 30, 2006. Jane has been assigned booth # 155 on the north side of Beech Street between India Street and Kettner Blvd. in the Little Italy section of San Diego. ArtWALK is open from noon until 6 pm both days. Park free for up to 4 hours at Horton Plaza, take the complimentary Old Town Trolly to ArtWalk and have your ticket validated at any ArtWALK information booth, or park at any of the other downtown lots or street parking.

The guest juror for this COMPETITION was artist and teacher Jeff Irwin. The public is invited to a reception to meet the artists on Friday March 31 from 6 - 8 p.m. The Museum of the Living Artist is located inside of the San Diego Art Insitute, next to the Mingei Museum and across the street from the San Diego Museum of Art at the Laurel Street Balboa Park entrance. LIQUID SUN, FAMILY REUNION and MOSAIC # 21 have been selected for display at the Riverside Museum of Art during their ART ALIVE 2006 "A Floral Fantasy" show. During this show, local florists will interpret the selected artworks into flower arrangements which will be exhibited with the paintings. FAMILY REUNION will be intrepreted by designer Alice Bradley from BRADLEY'S FLORIST and MOSAIC # 21 will be intreprted by designer Dana Prechtt of CITY FLORIST OF NORCO. The public is invited to meet the artists and florists at a FREE reception on Thursday March 9 from 6 - 8 pm at the museum. A formal tea will be held on Saturday March 11 from 1- 4 pm and everyone is invited. Tickets to the tea are $40 each and may be purchased directly from the museum. Original art and floral arrangements are among the wonderful door prizes to be offered at the tea.
